Linux Hardware and Software in the Trading Community - Christoph Lameter

Linux trading hardware and software differs from the general Enterprise class servers. The trading community itself is relatively small compared to general business Linux users, resulting in financial services systems that are often forced to accept the typical business server configuration. The systems must then be tweaked for the needs of trading to ensure everything runs at full speed with minimal transaction latencies.

This talk gives an overview on the methods that have been used in the industry over the last decade to accomplish these effects and invites an open discussion on how to improve the situation in the future. The particular problem is that the Linux distributions are geared to the general business use case. How do we make sure that they also cover our use cases?
